The four movements of Tanzendanses are lifted from the Baroque suite- the Allemande, Courante, Sarabande and Gigue- with the middle two dances stitched together. The traditional tics and mannerisms of each dance are used solely as a jumping off point, with any historical research being very fleeting. The piece came about from a chance meeting between Monica Curro- then forming the trio- and the composer at the AGM of the Australian Youth Orchestra and was performed at the trio’s first concert.
II Courante – III Sarabande. Recorded 9 December 2015, by PLEXUS.
